The Chestnut Room is the oldest classroom at TFC where preschoolers explore concepts deeply, building more complex social skills, conversations, and wonderings about themselves. The Chestnut classroom continues an emergent, play based curriculum and believe in child-directed learning. The daily schedule in the Chestnut Room includes both small and large group provocations to allow for varied social experiences. Letter recognition, literary concepts, pre-writing, and number recognition are all explored through the building, baking, art, and sensory experiences that naturally evolve when following their children's emerging interests in their play. The Chestnuts spend ample time discovering nearby parks and natural spaces in all types of weather, embracing outdoors spaces as an extension of our classroom.
The Chestnut Room has a maximum of 14 children with a team of 2 teachers.
