In the Maple classroom, we believe that learning happens through play, and that play is in fact learning. We make space for authentic discovery and joy in the process of uncovering new ideas. Our curriculum is based on observations of the children and our interpretations of what they are learning. Problem solving plays an important role in the Maple Room as children are encouraged to engage in conflict resolution and finding their own solutions. In our experience, it is important to maintain a balance between having choices and boundaries in order for all children to feel safe, and fully participate in the life of the classroom.
